Course Description:
Have you been longing for a clutter-free classroom, but other obligations consistently take priority? This is a sweat-equity course where you can dedicate time and energy to decluttering all areas of your class set-up. The result is getting rid of the excess and having a plan to maintain an organized system throughout the year.
Required Text(s) and Other Materials: All instructional materials will be provided by the instructor in Canvas. You may want to supplement with materials to organize your class space.
Course Objectives:
Identify the key areas in the classroom that need organization (e.g., teacher desk, student materials, storage areas, walls, and hallways).
List basic organizational tools and strategies for sorting and storing materials (e.g., bins, labels, file folders, etc.).
Explain how a well-organized teacher desk and storage areas can enhance classroom management and student learning.
Describe the benefits of a clutter-free physical classroom layout for both students and teachers.
Discuss the connection between physical organization and time management within the constraints of contract minutes.
Implement strategies to organize teacher desks, storage areas, and student materials in a way that maximizes efficiency and accessibility.
Design a classroom layout that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and easy movement.
Analyze the current physical organization of the classroom and identify areas for improvement.
Evaluate different organizational systems and select the most appropriate system for maintaining order in the classroom throughout the year.
Assess the impact of classroom layout on student behavior, attention, and learning outcomes.
